For High school graduates or University students, here is some information to give you a sense of what you will be doing, day to day, as a full-time teacher. Our teachers, and the professionals on our team, are wholly committed to mentoring you throughout your time here. We aim to offer you an experience that will provide valuable guidance as you make important career choices.

There are two internship programs: One semester (a 5 month term) and one academic year (a 10 month term).

ONE SEMESTER INTERNSHIP

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a high school graduate, or university student (Any major)
  • Age: At least 18 years old
  • Date of arrival: August 15 or January 15 (Every year)
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work Days: Monday through Friday
  • Working Hours: 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m.
  • Duration: At least 6 months:
    • Semester 1: September 1 through January 31
    • Semester 2: February 1 through June 30
  • Must arrive at least 2 weeks before the first day of school
INCENTIVES

  • Accommodations: secure, furnished accommodations with air conditioning provided – see attached list
  • Transportation: bicycle provided
  • Tours provided: 3 days 2 nights to Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Tour of Phnom Penh; Royal Palace, Toul Sleng Genocide Museum
  • ir ticket: $500 reimbursement toward airfare upon satisfactory completion of contract

ONE YEAR INTERNSHIP

  • Date of Arrival: August 15 (Every year)

  • Accommodations: Secure, furnished accommodations with air conditioning provided – see attached list. Accommodations Coordinators will be available to Interns 24/7.
  • Transportation: bicycle provided
  • Tours provided: 3 days 2 nights to Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Tour of Phnom Penh; Royal Palace, Toul Sleng Genocide Museum
  • Air ticket: $1000 reimbursement toward airfare upon satisfactory completion of contract
  • Work Permit: ALIS will reimburse intern for work permit. Intern will pay for the permit initially; reimbursement will be paid after satisfactory completion of the contract. ALIS will assist the teacher in the process of procuring the work permit. Please see attached list of Intern Expenses.
  • Income Tax: Employee agrees to pay income tax according to the Tax law of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
  • Airport Pick-Up: ALIS Accommodation Coordinator will meet Intern at Phnom Penh International Airport and provide transportation to Intern Housing.
  • Visa: Interns must apply for visa upon arrival. See sample visa form. ALIS Visa Representative will be at the airport to facilitate the application process.
